benefits of test my tattoo

The mission for our business was to help solve a common problem; tattoo regret. Surveys showed that around a quarter of people with a tattoo regret at least one, so we wanted to help fix this.

We’ve had our own experience of getting tattoos and know how easy it can be to make a simple mistake and then have to live with that regret the rest of your life, which we just found bizarre.

Our founder himself had a full sleeve and a half sleeve and struggled with getting the right tattoos each time. He made a few mistakes along the way and had to resort to tattoo removal to undo them. Wasting a lot of time, money and unnecessary pain.

The whole process of getting tattooed, especially with certain tattoo artists has always puzzled us. You have to book in a session with an artist, which could be months or even years away. They will often work on your design only a few weeks beforehand, or you might not even see the finished design until your actual appointment day. So as you’ve waited so long you already feel somewhat obliged to go ahead.

Most designers are also very precious of their work and criticism can be hard to give if you’re not truely happy with elements. This is easier to do if the artists has given you a design beforehand but when it’s on the day it’s extremely hard and there is far more of a pressure to say yes and ignore any concerns you may have.

Also, once you are happy with the design, they will then place on your skin for you to check in the mirror and it’s so easy at this point to forget about how it could look from different angles or in different outfits. For instance, lifting your arm up could distort the design or when wearing a long sleeve top as appose a T-shirt only part of the design shows and this could be an odd part or look like something completely different.

It’s also difficult to bring someone with you to your tattoo session and some artists won’t even allow this, so you have no one to turn to for a second opinion except the tattoo artists themselves and they are obviously going to be biased.

So when it finally comes to your tattoo day and the artist places the design on your skin, you’re there looking into the mirror at your new tattoo design, you’ve raised any concerns with the artist and they’ve done everything they can to make it how they feel will work best – you half love it but half not sure. So you therefore have 2 choices: go through with it or not?

If you choose to not do it: your going to annoy the artist you’ve just built report with, you’ll lose money on the session and most likely on travel there, the time you waited for this booking would all be a waste, the potential dream tattoo this could well be is also gone, so all your reasoning is most likely going to say yes, just go ahead!

Now you get home and those small concerns about the design you suddenly can’t get out of your head. Even if you love 90% of the design, it’s that small 10% that can bug you and as easy as that you can end up with tattoo regret!

This is the exact issue we found with getting a tattoo and is the same issue our website looks to solve. With our site you can test out any design on your skin to see how it will look in different sizes, colours, locations and styles – all from the comfort of your home.

Even if you don’t have a finished design from your artist, you can still send us a rough mockup, or a similar example just so you can at least play around with the positioning and size. You can see how it will look with different outfits on, different angles in the mirror, check with friends, family and even sleep on it over night to see if you still like it in the morning. Once you’re happy you then have total reassurance before even booking your tattoo appointment.
